It is a sad day today. Our brother, Miguel Contreras, the Executive Secretary/Treasurer of the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, passed away May 6, 2005. Miguel will be missed but not forgotten.  

His leadership has been extraordinary.

He was the first Latino elected leader of the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO, which embraces 350 local unions. He was able to make the Federation a force to be reckoned. His leadership made Los Angeles the most powerful political labor movement in the country.
